NUCO - First Aid Mental Health Awareness 4 Hour Course

This is an introductory 4hr (Half Day) which raises awareness of mental health covering:

  • – Provides learners with the knowledge to recognise mental health issues
  • – Skills and confidence to start a conversation and signpost a person towards professional help.
  • – Everyone from all ages and backgrounds can benefit from this course.
  • – This course is a valuable stepping stone into Mental Health First Aid

This awareness course is suitable for everyone as it provides learners with the knowledge to recognise a suspected mental health condition and the skills to start a conversation and be able to signpost a person towards professional help.

All members of the public can benefit from this course and it is a great stepping stone into First Aid for Mental Health.

What this course covers:

  • What is First Aid for Mental Health?
  • Identifying mental health conditions
  • Providing advice and starting a conversation
  • Certification
  • Upon successful completion of the qualification assessment, Learners will be awarded the Ofqual regulated Level 1 Award in Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health (RQF)/Award in Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health at SCQF Level 4. This qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement. It is strongly recommended that the learner attends annual refresher training. The learner will need to complete the full course again to requalify for a further three years.

Assessment

The qualification is assessed through a multiple-choice question paper. A Level 1 Award in Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health will be issued to the learner, subject to successful assessment. No external assessors are required.

A maximum of 16 students can be accommodated on this course and all candidates must be a minimum of 14 years of age to qualify.

What to expect:
 
Learning takes place through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities. 
 
Everyone who completes the course gets:
 
An MHFA manual to refer to whenever they need it and a workbook including a helpful toolkit to support their own mental health.  A certificate of attendance to say they are Mental Health Aware.

Course Cost - £55 plus vat per person.
