Objectives

To give managers, supervisors, and all personnel involved in manual handling risk assessment the necessary skills to successfully assess and complete such assessments. The classroom based training can be completed using generic or company specific assessment documentation and systems, and covers all areas of manual handling risk assessment.

Contents:

The student will receive theory and practical training under expert guidance from our fully qualified and experienced personnel in the following aspects of manual handling and lifting training:

• UK Legislation - MHOR 1992 etc.
• The scale of the problem
• Musco skeleton anatomy
• Posture – S.T.O.P.
• Types of handling related injury
• 5 key steps to risk assessment
• Practical lifting techniques - Plan Prepare Position Perform
• Practical assessment exercises
• Written test

Course can also be tailored to the care industry relating to the client’s care plan risk assessment.
